Dr. Andrea Kells
Optometrist
Dr. Andrea Kells joined Signature Eye Care in 2023 and has been excited to share in the team’s dedication to holistic patient care and providing the most up-to-date technology. Graduating with a Bachelor degree in Exercise Science and minor in Biology from the University of Houston in 2012 she also kept busy as part of the collegiate swim team. During her athletic career, she competed internationally and served as captain for both her junior and senior years. Following graduation, her continued passion for science and helping others led her to pursue optometry at the same institution, where she excelled academically and interned at Signature Eye Care, fostering her commitment to patient-centric care and earning her Summa Cum Laude honors.
Returning to her roots in Canada after graduation, Dr. Kells assumed the role of President of the Calgary Optometric Society and obtained certification for advanced optometric procedures to further enhance clinical skills. In 2022, she celebrated her marriage to Julien, whom she met during her internship at Signature, and together they relocated to Austin, where Dr. Kells eagerly rejoined the Signature team. With extensive experience in diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataract care, she is licensed to practice therapeutic optometry and holds certification as an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, while actively participating in professional organizations such as the American Optometric Association and Central Texas Optometric Society.
Beyond her professional commitments, Dr. Kells enjoys activities such as working out, spin classes, and swimming, alongside her love for outdoor exploration, travel, and culinary adventures. She has also recently dabbled in new hobbies such as pickleball and curling. And if you are planning a trip to Canada, she will be happy to provide recommendations!
