Foreign Body
Any foreign material can become embedded either deeply or superficially in the front part of the eye. Symptoms vary greatly depending on severity, however most foreign body injuries produce pain, light sensitivity, and tearing. All foreign bodies, especially dirt, metal, or glass must be removed from the front of the eye immediately to assist in proper healing. After removal, treatment may include any or all of the following: special medications, a special bandage contact lens, patching, and dilation drops. Return visits to the office are necessary until complete healing is confirmed. Our eye doctors are very experienced in removing foreign bodies and developing a treatment regimen to facilitate quick eye healing.
